The cd issues are the only way to get these tracks digitally at the moment, and this one sounds pretty solid. Surely better than the recent we want sounds re-issue.Having said that, don't expect an audiophile recording when listening to ANY pressing, as it was recorded in 1978, and in Greece.

Sounds muffled, not crisp. I am opting for one of the official CD releases for this one, as those were most likely mastered from the OG 1st generation tapes.

I have the 2014 (unofficial) "Music Gallery" Re-issue : it sounds great to my ears, but no credits on the (plain) Sleeve ... Great Music, must have !!!

For the price of this EP, it is a disappointment. I would also be curious to hear the previous reissue. It sounds better when I crank up the treble all the way on my Marantz, but the difference is pretty subtle, so just too much compression during mastering i guess. Such great tracks though, I guess I will keep it until i hear of a better option.

I don't think the compression is what is making it sound muffled, I think the source might have been a 2nd generation tape, or a digital file pulled from that source. During mastering, the engineer could have boosted the highs a bit, but chose not to for some reason.It is possible that the OG master tape never sounded that great to begin with.I will opt for one of the official CD releases for this one.

I doubt it is done from the master tapes to be honest.

The Music Gallery boot was done from the Official EMI CD release. I know the actual owner of the cd used. That is why it sounds good. This we want sounds pressing should have used the CD source as the cd was most likely done from the OG tapes.

I do not see anywhere that states this release was done from original master tapes. Even on the label's website, the description for this release does not state this, therefore I do not believe it to be done from the original master tapes. A remastered vinyl rip is what we have here which was also the case with the Music Gallery boot as well. Between the 2 will just be comparing the mastering jobs. My Musical Gallery copy does sound very listenable to me.

This is great Jazz Funk, But £884.84 great? That's up to you. Despite its hard to find status. £884.84 could get you a stack of rare jazz, although it must be said, the musicianship here is top notch & this stands tall next to the cram of USA session players of the same era. A gem from an unexpected source.
